When I click on a link like this now:

irc://irc.dark-tech.net/elysium

It goes to an internet explorer page saying Invalid syntax error instead of opening it in mIRC, this happened after I installed an add on for mIRC.

I uninstalled the addon and reinstalled mIRC, but the problem continues.

Please Help.

Thanks in advance,

T Bone:huh:

There's an option in mIRC somewhere which allows you to enable/diable web irc:// links.

I can't remember where it is, just have a look through the options.

What version of mIRC are you using.
I've just downloaded v6.03 and to get to the option its
Options >> IRC >> Catcher
Tick the bottom 2 tick-boxes.

I'm using 6.03 as well.

That doesn't work, thats for links inside mIRC chat room, so like if you click on the link then it will open the browser. They were alreay checked on mine.

No, "Enable Support for chat links" is the option to enable or disable irc:// links from your browser.

Ok, I feel dumb, I unchecked it and checked it again, problem fixed.

Thanks Speedy.

wonder if that would work for Opera as I have no intention of using IE ??

Possibly, i know that Mozilla detects irc:// links as it comes with its own client (ChatZilla)

I Should imagine its some sort of registry key that mIRC creates to become associated with irc://.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
