Problem with icons . . .

Somehow my folder icons in Internet Explorer favorites window (the small folder icons next to the bookmark names) got turned off and I don't know how to get them turned back on.
This also happened with the folder, drive, cd-drive, etc. icons in Windows explorer . . . no icons just the names of the folders and drives.
I downloaded Tweak UI and tried to repair icons to no avail.

Any help appreciated . . . have been trying to get the icons back for a while and am getting frustrated.

God only knows what you have done to cause that

try at a command prompt

sfc /scannow - that might fix them for you

Or go through and set every option you have to default

I tried max's tip but that didn't work

I just did a complete reinstall of Windows

and that's when it showed up for me! Never seen this before. . .

Did you ever find the solution to this one? Its got me stumped, I can't even tell what's a folder and whats a link until I click on it!
