Problem with HD.

OK. Here is a little scenario for you. About 2 weeks ago I had a crash on my Win XP. When it started up again I couldn't run my negativ scanner and the computer started to freeze up on me all the time. I decided to repair the installation wich worked for the freezing part. But now when I plug in a new harddrive the PC wont go beyond the logo of Windows :( If I unplug the HD again it runs just fine. Anybody able to help on this one?

Thanks for the quick reply. :)

I just finished a new install of it, but the same problem occurs. When during the installation it reboots. The first time it does that, there is no problem, but the second time the Win logo appears and then my PC just stops. In the middle of the installation. I shut down and remove the HD and then it works fine again. ???

And thank you for helping me.

harddrive buggered?

were do u plug the extra hard drive in? through usb port?

The RAID controller on my mobo is, i think, broken as i get that problem if i connect anything to it (even if it's not the boot drive).

Though if you have not got one then *shrug*

Well here is what I just did. I reinstalled the driver for the Maxtor massstorage controller, and it just started like a puppy. :)
Thank you so much guys.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
