problem with cd rom

Hello.....
I just installed winxp pro with 2 cd rom drives, one cd rw and one normal ones. However when I tried installing office it says that the installer is not recognised. Anyway I went to the event viewer and found 2 errors, one event id 9 and another event id 51. The description for error 9 is the device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1 did not respond within the timeout period, and the description for event id 51 is an error was detected on device \Device\Cd Rom1 during a paging operation.
Could you plz help??

Have you made sure all your settings are correct under your ide controllers in device manager and that all drives are set to use dma if availible...also is this a storebought copy of office, or a burned one.
