Prevent computer from spinning up CD drive when using windows explorer

Whenever I view the drives on my computer via Windows Explorer, a save menu, etc..., it will pause for a little bit and wait for my CD drive to spin up before continuing.

Is there any way to prevent it from doing this?

haha, well then you are in some trouble, because it has to read the cd to tell you what it is in the drive.. ( i am 99.9999% sure on this one)
example: it says "G:ut2k4" or what ever next to it..

It should only have to do that once. Then it remembers what cd's/dvd's are in there until it gets a notification that the drive door has been opened.

Ep, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there https://tinyurl.com/ycpxl
