i installed powertoys for xp, now all my icons are 16 colors only

they really look messed up, does anybody know how to fix this?

As far as I know, there is an option to repair Icons. Also, ther might be an other option dealing with size and colors for Icons.
So, do a little search through PowerToys !

I had the same problem, you could try changing the registry settings.
It only happens when your color depth is 16 bits.
You can prevent this by changin your color depth to 32 bits before you use Powertoys to make changes to you icons.

Start regedit, and look for:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\desktop\WindowMetrics]
"Shell Icon BPP"="32"
"Shell Icon Size"="32"

Just change
"Shell Icon BPP"="32" in to
"Shell Icon BPP"="16"
and restart your pc.

Sometimes just changing your color depth wil help to!

hmm

i have already tried to repair the icons and it did nothing,

i cannot find any settings that change the icon's color,

i did change the resolution to 32bits and the icon where back to normal but when i change it to 16bits there messed up again,

i really find no reason to have anything in 32bits i dont even play games with 32bits

hey

i did the regedit like u told me and it worked fine!!!

i didn't even have to restart

thx a lot

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. 🙁

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
