power notification icon

I am using Win XP Home on an Acer laptop. My battery status icon disappears now and then. Occasionally some random pixels appear in its place. No specific reason observed. Any suggestions? I need to know my battery status so I need that icon working right. Thanks in advance.

check for up-dates for you Acer Bios - also check for advice with Acer on their web site.
I have instaleld XP home/pro on various laptops with no problems like that.
