Port Forwarding - how safe?

For reasons I will not go into in any boring detail, I have just forwarded a TCP range and a UDP port to my main host through my MoDem/Router.... Now over a period of time I must admit that I have become completely lax with firewalls since I got this router, although I do now run with the SP2 one simply because it is easier that way by default.....

So I thought I would ask here, what are peoples opinions of the insecurity I have opened myself to by port forwarding? I view it as pretty miniscule - but after reading about PunkRulz I am thinking twice.... all views received with interest - reps for the most educational :p

It depends on what ports you've forwarded and what is listening on those ports from the PC that the ports are forwarded to. If you forward port 32145 to PC1, but PC1 has no program/service/daemon listening to port 32145 it makes no difference.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
