I think Tweakui has this ability, tho it may even disconnect the drive, give it a go

what you want is called Magic Folders (or the encrypted version...Encrypted Magic Folders)....check it out here...

🙄

Encrypted Magic Folders is an incredible app, runs in steath mode which only adds to the security.

This program comes in handy when ya have little ones useing your comp and explore your comp. The lady and I have images that might just shatter our kids view on us....lol

TweakUI will hide the drive but still leave it available to open from a command prompt... Safe but not totaly...

Win2k you could change the owner and keep others out... To bad Xp killed that...

You would have to be pretty starved of porn to attempt such a thing 😀

Erm, inspite of the Devious nature of the Application i will show you the way..

all you need to do is NOT install any 3-rd party software, the simplist way is to convert your drive to ntfs
i.e Convert X: /FS:NTFS
BTW you need Admin Equivilent access
Then, you go to Folder options and uncheck "Simple File sharing" to get to the DACL (Discretionary Access Control List) (and who said being an MCP is a bad thing?)
and then REMOVE every user from the DACL, that's the permissions tab under security under the HD's Properties
and just add your username will full rights, then it's unrestriced access to you but restricted access to any other user..
and for extra protection turn back on the "Simple file sharing" so people can't waltz in and undo all your hard work
BTW, it may help if they are not administrators too or they may just take ownership of the hard-drive and all your work will be for nought.

hope this helps

Thanks War... That's what I was looking for...

Got my folder locked...

Does disabling "simple file sharing" has any adverse effects?!?

MiseryQ, disabling "simple file sharing" has no any adverse affects (effects?) it just makes sharing in Xp a helluva lot harder to share on LANS, but it is easily put back on by checking the little tick box you unticked before.
simple, safe and also private what more could you need.
