2. IBM Deskstar 40 GB 7200 RPM

well i have always bought from the IBM deskstar series - in fact I have just got the 123.5gig 7200 Deskstar120GXP drive at a snap of a price of £153

deskstars are speedy and nice--i have three of them. but i've heard too much about reliability to call them perfect. mine are fine, but my dad's imploded the other week and he got mad at me for getting ibm in the first place (i built his comp) and now he has a WD. it seems decent. }:\

maxtor is great, too. i guess nowadays they're all pretty equal.

well i've got seagate and ibm drives in my computer. the ibm gave me problems a little while back (god damn 75gxp line).
