philips hdd070 problem

i added some songs to my hdd070 and disconnected my player from the pc and a message comes up saying 'problem connect to computer'. i do this and nothing happens. i do a bit of googleing and i find out i need to format the hdd. so i do. still says the same message and now all my songs have gone. please help!!!
