I've made a program for everyone (almost :p ) that wants to use custom themes for Windows XP. In general it replaces the uxtheme.dlls you got with a patched version.
For those of you that isn't sure what this program does, it basically is StyleXP without a fancy GUI or registration.

NB: The program does NOT work for OEM versions of Windows XP atm

I guess you're used to StyleXP handling your themes...well all you have to do after a sucessfull patch, is downloading a theme from www.themexp.org or similar, unzip it and then you choose it by right-clicking desktop, choose properties and it should be located in the Themes list. If not go to C:\windows\resources\themes (where you would unzip your theme earlier) and double-click the *.msstyle file in the folder you unzipped the theme to.

How come it does not work with OEM (atm)? I thought they were basically the same if not all the same.

Hi,

What does it mean, it won't work with OEM versions ? I have bought my computer with WinXP Home pre-installed. Would it work with it ?

Thanks

Well, let me tell you how to get it to work on OEM. You have to search for a file called "UXTHEME.DL_" and rename it to "UXTHEME.bak". Then apply the patch. This is what andyp told how to get it to work on #xperience a while ago. Then just run the patcher.

About OEM Versions

Yesterday I ran across this little app, and let me tell you that it works great. I myself am using an OEM version of Windows XP Professional (with SP1 installed) and found the program to work well, with no problems.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
