Just curious if anybody knows the reason of my problem. I try to install the new painkiller patch but it goes to a dos prompt and says not enough system memory. I have 1 gig of ram and a 600 meg swap file. Any clue what is causing this?

well, of the top of my head I'd say that your swap (paging file) is way, way too small. Do a forum search for paging file. Perris wrote a great article on this.

Indeed, that will explain the background and why, but the basic recommendation will be to allow your page file to be system managed - and the probable initial result from that will be an increase in size to about 1.5GB

Or be simple like me and let WindowsXP manage it's own page file, presuming you use that OS of course.

general rule of swap, which still applies because apps are getting ever larger, is 1.5xRAM

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
