Partition/Re-Format Problem

Hey:

Got a new computer (P-4, Intel) and tried to re-format and partition the way I like. The problem is, when I do the fdisk thing there seems to be one partition I am unable to delete (seems to be about 8000 mb). Keep getting messages about deleting logical drive first (but there is none) and then try to delete primary and it says I can't without deleting the other??? Am I too vague here?

Was going to try deletepar instead of fdisk to see if that works but not sure if this is a partition that must remain for some reason or another.

It does work, however, when I simply using the XP cd to format and partition. I just want to know (a) what is that partition and (b) how do I dlete it under fdisk?

Thanks,
Kesk

You should delete the extended or logical drive, it may have the XP installation files there only. From the original install, maybe?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
