Owner Account

How can I delete this account that was created when I installed XP Pro? Should I just rename it and use it as though it was my own "thinking"? What purpose does this "xp-created" folder serve anyway? I am the only user on my computer and I'd like to give this folder the "deep six"---same as the "shared files" folder.

Dear dawgbyte...

Your english is perfect, and your grammar is fine. But I'm not too sure I follow you...

But if you want to delete accounts / profiles... RIGHT click My Computer > Advanced [TAB] > under User Profiles click on Settings and you should be able to delete the selected profile. It will delete the account and all the User's folders from the "Documents and Settings" folder.

Obviously you cannot delete the profile you are currently logged in with. Create a new account, log in with that account and THEN delete the undesired account.

Kind Regards,
Willem Moolenaar

ps. If I am mis interpreting your question please correct me.

Yeah, you generally got the point. The installation created a folder that I really don't need--perhaps to keep people from constantly logging in as Administrator. I will create my own account(s) and have no use for an account called "owner". I tried to delete the folder immediately but couldn't. I'm in no way a guru, IT, geek, etc. and need all the help I can get. I'll try your method. Thanks!!

Great :)
I thought that OWNER account thingie was something for Windows HOME edition. I have WinXP Pro (like yourself as you mention) and no "Owner" folder can be found. At least not in my installation.

Hope my previous method works for you. But if it IS WinXP Home... I'm not to familiar with it, and I'd MOVE the "owner" folder to a different partition before permanently deleting it off your computer.

Kind regards,
Willem Moolenaar

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
