Overall which is better AMD xp2400 or xp2500

I will keep this short ....if your motherboard supports it get the 2500xp Cpu....do a quick web search and you will find many reviews and opinions which mainly say its a good chip.

xp 2400+ (2ghz) is a 266fsb chip and has 256k of L2 cache.
xp 2500+ (1.83ghz) is a 333fsb chip and has 512k of L2 cache.

the 2500+ has a lower clock but is more efficient... thus making it a little bit faster in most circumstances.

make sure your board supports 333fsb processors, though.
