I'm using WinXP Pro, XP 1800+, 256DDR, GeForce3 Ti-200 and it takes about 30 seconds for my outlook express to open up. After i launch the app, it would show the splash screen for about 30 seconds then it would finally open up. I'm on cable and everything is working beautifully. Thanks.

This can happen if your inbox, outbox etc have a large amount of emails and are therefore taking ages to load.

It can also happen for no explicable reason whatsoever :D

You can try deleteing your inbox, outbox etc by doing a seach for inbox, then outbox and then binning them. You could just move them if you prefer not to delete.

Outlook express will create new copies of these if it finds none at all.

Just a stab in the dark - mine is slow coming up sometimes - especially since I like to check my e-mail first thing after booting up my puter.

I have found that mine is slow - when Norton System Works decides to do a Live Update upon booting up!

Sooo - perhaps if you Control>Alt>Delete and see what processes
are running, it might at least tell ya what is running and give ya an idea of where to go! If nothing is running than I'm a dummy!:D :D :D

Obviously I was typing while Bytes Back was answering and I know he knows more about this than I do - sorry!

BTW - Please explain "binning them" - I am not familiar with the term and I want to learn from this XP-erience;) ;)

normally outlook freezes when it tries to load MSN messenger

if you have it disabled or something like that, could be the problem

I have been having the same problem. I did have messenger off so I turned it back on and now all is well.
Thanks

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
