Outlook Express 6

Just upgraded my dads PC to XP Pro, and having one or two teething problems :d

The main one is, before the upgrade, my dad had upgraded to IE6 and OE6 on Win98SE and now when you access OE6 all the emails and directories that had been previously are now gone.

Anyone know of a way to retrieve these?

Sorry, but they are most likely gone, you may try one of those software recovery tools it may recover some of them.

What you can do is search for these files:

Inbox.dbx
Drafts.dbx
Sent Items.dbx
Deleted Items.dbx
(self explanatory)

<username>.wab
or the backup <username>.wa~
(just search for *.wa?, this is your Contacts

These files ar per default Hidden in XP, so you'll have to Show Hidden Files.

If you find these floating around, you might try & put them in the new OE folders, and play around abit.
