optimized cflags ?

while compiling things on freebsd i have noticed that there is an option to build with optized cflags (-03) although these are always unticked by default - would ticking these cause any issues or is -03 right for a p4 system ?

I know not to tick threadsafe now

most times they're ok, however sometimes they can cause problems.

so best stick with the default options when doing make config ? if things are unticked leave them that way ?

i'd rather not on this pc - think i have an old p4 1.8 up in the attic, might use that
