Open link in firefox

As some of you are aware Firefox has a plugin that is called "ieview" which can be found here https://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=35&vid=928
I was wondering if there was an opposite plugin for IE to open links in Firefox.
My reason for asking is that in Steam when you click on a link it opens IE, which I understand, but......Like many I dont like to use IE, so is there a plugin for IE that would enable me to open links in Firefox?

Somehow I doubt MSIE would be willing to give a way to open a competitors browser. Unfortunately I would think this is the same problem like Messenger always opening IE, it is hard coded to use IE and does not open the default browser. This is a just a guess however.

I got to thinking about it and Steam(even messenger) are using IE when you use them so when you open a new link it will by default use IE because thats what is already open...

I was hoping for a 3-rd party plugin. I knew MS wouldnt have one .

isn't there some registry trick where you can edit the location of IE to go open firefox instead?

You could replace C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe with a shortcut to Firefox, I bet that would break lots of stuff, I wouldn't do it.
