Office XP and Windows Vista

Silly question...

I just bought a Laptop with Vista Home on it.

Is there a way to install Office XP?

I have tried a few times and no joy. Is there some trick?

how about some details about what problems you are having? 32bit? 64bit vista? error messages?

Appears Office 2002 (Office XP) and up work with VISTA. Some people have limited success with 2000 versions

I saw another site where it said it only works in "compatibility mode".

I get a Message that says it can't find a valid qualifying product.

Then I get Error 1608.

Running Vista Home Basic.

while final vista may be different, while beta testing vista I was able to run both office 2000 and office xp without any problems. I even seen reports of some running office 97.

I think I may have figured out what is going on, there was a trial version of Office 2007, I think, deleted that so I could install mine.

I think that maybe messing stuff up.

Reading the Error Message on the Microsoft, and seeing if I can get around it.
