if you run an upgrade it does a pretty good job of migrating all your settings

The "upgrade" when you run setup from office 2007 does actually do an uninstall of the old office 2003 install. It backs up your settings automagically as part of the install, then runs the uninstall from the 2003 msi's and then kicks off the install of office 2007

But the "Save My Settings" wizard was much better for saving settings and being able to do a clean install of an OS and applications.
