nvidia nforce and dsl

persario desktop 6050us using xp with nvidia nforce on board nic trying to access the internet with swbell dsl service using efficient networks speed stream modem. swbell page notes that the modem is compatible with xp.
compaq could not get me connected with the on board nic. they sent me another nic card. i installed it and it works fine.
does anyone else have a problem with their on board nvidia nforce nic? anyone know why?

There shouldn't be a problem. A NIC is a NIC as long as you have working drivers for your OS. I think it's just a configuration problem.
