NTFS drive with NO Security tab

Hi, I would like to check the NTFS permissions on my files and folders but when I go into the Properties page for the directory or the file there is no Security tab to check the permissions. Any Ideas as to why the tab is missing or how to get it back?

check if you have simple filesharing on, if so turn it off and the security tab will be there.

That is correct, in so far as Windows XP Professional is concerned. The NTFS files permission is not available in Windows XP Home Edition, unless you boot into Safe Mode. And in both cases you can only use it when you have Full Permissions, which in effect means that you must have Administrator right.
