Hi

I have Norton System Works 2002 installed and wanted to update the utilites and speed disk using live update but i get the following error message below.

It will not let me overwrite the files with the new ones. I use live update to updat the virus deifitions and that goes ok but i cannot update utilities and speed disk 🙁

Any suggestions or solutions?

I dont use it , but would it have something to do with windows File protection ?

Sounds like something is corrupted with SystemWorks.
Try uninstalling it and reinstalling and then try downloading the updates.
I had something similiar a while back and that was the only way I fixed it.

I have the same problem. And reinstall doesn't fix it. Any other suggestions ??

Same problem, 4 different computers. I begining to think its time to move on to diskkeeper..... Although I like the windoctor feature of system works

I have a buddy haveing that problem with a copy of System Works 2002 he got off of Morpheus. I have a legit copy and the update worked fine. Not trying to sling mud but do you guys have legit copies ?

sorry guys but I used to use norton but went to ontrack system suite and never looked back...works like a charm should check it out.

You don't have to. There are other/better defrag utilities available 🙂

- Greg/Raxco Software

Disclaimer: I work for Raxco Software, the maker of PerfectDisk - a commercial defrag utility and a competitor to SpeedDisk and Diskeeper, as a systems engineer in the support department.

Same problem two computers, both new clean installs. Uptadet fine before, just not the latest updates for some reason. Also had the Redirector error prior to the clean installs. Simply avoid the Redirector install this time. Has symantec lost it completely, are they out to create bugs and viruses now?

exactly the same problem here too!

i removed the whole suite and installed nav2002 only
no probs
until liveupdate...
then i get

The procedure entry point ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library symredir.dll.
on startup and email scanning is disabled

ok fixed it
just reinstalled it and this time didnt install redirect liveupdate addon

however norton utils still exist

god only knows why its as 'windows 2000'

Windows 2000Norton Utilities NT 6.0

I think you guys have to disable the services first and then install the update. Hopefully that helps...
Whatever goes around usually gets dizzy and falls over

well i hate norton unerase, so thats stopped, as is speed disk
the only service part of symantec i have enabled is the norton antivirus one.

Just wondering, anybody know what the SpeedDisk service and the other Norton services actualy do?

The services are needed to monitor your comp's performance. It should be disabled through either services.msc or msconfig. You can enable them later if the update is successful. I hope this helps...

Nope, disabling the Speed Disk and killin any Norton services and programs had no effect. I still get the same Undate problems with both.

Try updating just the Live Update feature first and then the rest separately. I think the Live Update might need to be more current to install the other updates. You should also check that the folder containing the files don't have read-only checked. That will stop any modifications so uncheck it if it's checked.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. 🙁

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
