Norton Firewall problem

I installed Norton Firewall 2003 beta in Win XP Pro some time ago and by some reason, the program couldn't remember the settings for some programs eg. Kazaa. It keeps asking me over and over again if Kazaa should be permitted or blocked. I uninstalled and went back to 2002 which has worked flawlessly but all of a sudden the problem was there too. Not even a Restore Point helped!
Any ideas?

kazaa is one of the most invasive peer to peer apps made, it should be banned to the south pole. Norton firewalls should be sent there too. Mcafee, who bought out Neoworx, and used their technology for their firewall is one of the best IMHO. Zonalarm Pro is a POS. Blackice...junk. My takes on the personal firewalls out there. Of course you have the commercial firewalls that are a combination of sftw and hdw but not practical for home use. I used Neoworx 2.4 untill Mcafee took them over and now have 4.11 running. At www.grc.com I get all ports are stealth mode which is the best you can hope for. Mcafee works flawlessly with XP and remebers all the settings for allowed accesses you permit.

So, in answer to your question, my advice is to dump Norton and go with Mcafee.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
