Norton Firewall and ICS

I have my laptop and desktop networked using a crossed cat5e patch cable and I am using windows native internet connection sharing. The thing is when i connect my laptop to my desktop i need to get an IP, but norton firewall wont give my laptop access to the computer until i dsable it. I have the rules set up to allow it to access it at all times, but i guess that doesnt work before I have obtained an IP. It is a pain the ass having to disable the firewall everytime that I want to share internet access( i just have to disable it long enough to get an IP). Any way around this? Maybe get windows ICS to always use the same IP?

never mind...its works if i set a static ip for my laptop

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
