No picture on monitor

The problem is that when i switch on my computer, there is no picture on the screen, it is a samsung monitor, the monitor led keeps on blinking.
The power led on the cpu is on but the hard disk led shows no activity.
I have checked all the ide cables on the motherboard (intel 845hv) and even removed the graphics card (nvidia riva tnt 32mb)and fixed it back.
But the problem still persists.
please can you tell me what the problem could be.

maybe its a bad stick of ram... try taking it out and swap it with another piece.

Try and stick a different graphics card in... if it still doesn't work, probably your motherboard. If it does, probably your TNT.

You could try resetting your BIOS.
