No mouse control in safe mode

When I boot intpo safe mode in XP I have no control over the mouse (PS2 serial), but have control over the keyboard which is USB!

Similar but different : I also have Linux RedHat 7.2 on another partition and no control at all over the mouse on that either.

Anyone got the same problem?

Yup, I have the same problem in safe mode, PS2 mouse and keyboard. Keyboard works fine but no mouse. 😕

(XP Pro).

I've never found a solution to this and it's still a pain navigating around without the mouse. Anyone got any ideas. SP1 did nothing to help.
