No CD-Rom installation possible

Hello,

I've tried to install Office 2000 from cd-rom. During installation an error occured saying that a .cab-file was not found.
(a file wich is on the cd).

Then I copied the contents of the cd to the hdd and ran the installation. It completed succesfully.

What can be the problem ?

reburn the cd. probably screwed up or scratched

agree with tbird, could be a lot of different reasons why it failed with the CD, just burn it from the hdd, don't burn it from the cd.
