Is the Nividia update to 29.42 the same as (detonator)

If not which is better ?

I read on it but not sure which one to go with ???!

I'm not sure if this is really the case, but it seems you are confused about what "Detonator" drivers are.

All of the drivers for the current (and most of the past) models of Nvidia cards are called "Detonator" drivers.

Currently the official Detonator version is 29.42. However, you will notice beta versions being "leaked" all of the time. The latest beta to be leaked is the 30.30 version.

So, until Nvidia changes things, all Nvidia video card drivers are called "Detonator" drivers. Don't be confused by the name. Pay attention to the version number.
