NFTS to FAT32

Hey guys I just reformatted one of my paritioned drives to NFTS and installed Windows XP professional. I have a 200 gig WD split into a 120 and a 70. I accidentally chose NFTS during the formatting process, any way I can change it back to FAT32?

The only way to convert from NTFS to FAT32 without destroying existing data is by using third-party software like Partition Magic

With drives/partitions that large, you should use NTFS though

Yeah, why would you want it as a FAT32 file system? I say, leave it as it is.

Maybe he's running a multi booting system? Just remember, partition magic doesn't work on dynamic volumes.

yea, you can use partition magic but I don't recommend it. I converted my NTFS to FAT32 before. After building my new computer the and putting the HD in the FAT32 partitions got messed up and I had to format them.

Yea I think I'll stick with NTFS. Thanks guys. But my other drive is still on FAT32, is there going to be any conflicts moving files from one to the other?

Nope, none at all. Except if youre running a FAT32 OS like Win95/98/ME on a dual boot (could happen!) then you wont be able to see the NTFS partition from there.

Yes, but there ARE drivers out there that let Fat32 OSes see NTFS drives...

Seeing is one thing but file manipulation is another. Software for the latter is NOT free.

I agree with J79zlr, you should be using NTFS with a partition that big. Anything over 32gigs (or is it 40?) should use NTFS file system

I'm running NTFS now. I formatted the 70 gig drive to NTFS also. You guys persuaded me Anyways..Now I'm experiencing jitters in my computer. For example, every 5-10 minutes my computer would jitter. Like if I had winamp playing a song, the song would jitter, if I were to be moving my mouse, I would feel a freeze/jitter motion. When I open up folders and such, it would jitter also. Any ideas?

I needed to load xp on a spare computer for a few days and made the mistake of using ntfs format. I now need to reload windows 98 and have already removed (formatted) xp.

I don't care about losing data, for the drive has been formatted and now, for all intents and purposes, contains no data.

How do I return this drive to fat32 format so that I may install windows 98?

Easy. Just load the software that came with your hard disk e.g.Seagate Discwizard or Western Digital Lifeguard tools and follow the instructions on reboot

but, um... say I don't have the disk that comes with the drive? where might I be able to get such a disk?
