newby questions.. but plz read

i recently installed XP, and i gota say that this is THE BEST WINDOWS i've EVER USED!!!! (i haven't tried 98SE or 2k).

When i first installed it, i had lotsa resources and ram available...
u know how there's an option where u can have
-slide or fade menus after clicking?
under performance settings?

after a while i installed some programs, and i guess it couldn't handle fading anymore so it starts sliding, is there any hack or tweak and overides it and forces it to fade even though it switched to slide because of not enough resources? plz... i looked around but couldn't find it. If there is, plz tell me

My other question is that one night, i stumbled upon a part where i can view trafic of my LANs. Since i had two LANs, it shows one on top and one on the bottom, showing if there was any activity on a graph... and the connected speed (10 or 100 base). I can't find this thing anymore....!! anyone plz help?

ok, for your sliding/fading menus thing, go to control panel>system>advanced>performance>visual effects(it should be the first thing that pops up) and choose wut u would like. For your LAN question, I dont know if this is right, but try ctrl+alt+del and go to networking.

ya i know i can configure the visual effects there, but there's on the option of
