I don't see any requirements, such as how close/far it has to be to the estimated delivery time, or how much it costs. All the article says is that it is "fee based", and you will "only be charged if the intercept is performed".

With UPS Delivery InterceptSM, you can maintain control of your packages as they move through the UPS network. This fee-based service for shippers allows you to request the intercept of packages prior to delivery, providing greater flexibility in managing your shipping needs.

When you select UPS Delivery Intercept, you can request that UPS perform one of the following actions:

  • Return to Sender: Return the package to the shipper
  • Deliver to Another Address: Reroute the package to a new address
  • Reschedule Delivery: Hold the package for delivery on a future date
  • Will Call: Hold the package for pickup by the consignee

I actually saw a pretty cool commercial on TV while watching 24 last night about this service. Seems like a neat idea, considering how expensive UPS is already... I wonder how much this will cost.

Enough to get you to ship the package to the right address in the first place.

Agreed, I'd like to see more info about it - including cost and reliability.

well ..the only way it would make sense to me ..if somehow you shipped the wrong thing to the wrong address.

I too am curious as to its actual cost.

UPS never charged me for the wrong delivery address, dun know why they would start now

I saw the commercial for this the other night, I have to say I like their marketing of late :D

yeah ..the artsy guy drawing stuff is pretty neato ... i like the simple and catchy music as well.

for us, the new UPS delivery intercept service is being intercepted by Nigerian scammers who are redirecting orders to other addresses without the knowledge of the credit card holder or our (the shipper) knowledge.

The scammers are placing orders using stolen credit cards numbers, using hte card holder's name, and address, and ordering items to ship to the card holder's home (billing address) and using a generic hotmail email address. To us (the merchant), the order looks legitimate until we find out later that the scammer called up UPS and had the order re-directed to another address. We have even seen these guys redirect an item, we redirected it back, and then they redirected it again!

UPS delivery intercept allows ANYONE with the tracking number to re-direct a shipment to another address. Our company has been taken for over $20,000 so far, all resulting in Credit Card chargebacks and all resulting from UPS allowing anyone to re-direct a package.

We have filed claims for losses all from UPS, since they delivered to an address that we did not request.

This seems like a very expensive mistake for them.

hmmm.. i find that hard to believe that they wouldn't put some control in place.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
