New Laptop!!!

Except it is wrong. Every battery type is different. Laptops used NiCd first and then NiMh and now they all use Lithium Ion.

Lithium Ion should never be fully discharged, it damages them. Never let it get below 40%.

The older NiCd had memory effect and HAD to be deep dischargd regularly or they lost capacity. Newer NiCd do not have this problem.

NiMh can be deep discharged or not but suffers from really bad self discharge when sitting idle. Note the new brands released this Xmas have 10-20 times less self discharge but are significantly more expensive.

Lead acid in cars and some battery backup should not be deep discharged or charged/recharged repeatedly, it uses up the electrolyte.

A Laptop used as a desktop replacement does not discharge the battery. It is plugged in when in use. The article quoted above actually contradicts itself. It appears to be quoting instructions from several different battery types.

man, i only get a score of 2.0 on the graphics on my laptop. wish it'd be higher a bit. overall, the performance of my laptop is ok when running vista with aero. but can i improve on it?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
