New hard drive question (4k)

I'm looking at buying a few new hard drives, particularly the new Samsung 2TB F4 drives: Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

This, as well as the WD EARS drives, use the new 4k addressing. So yeah, I know I need to format the drive in Vista, Win7 or a linux distro that supports it. At home right now, I'm only running all XP boxes and laptops. Can I format the drives on a Win7 box and then use the formatted drives in XP? Or is it even possible to format from within a virtual machine?

I still haven't found a straight answer on whether a drive formatted in W7 or Vista will work correctly with XP or if it would still need emulation. Has anyone tried this yet?

Seems like you still have to do more then that ... WD site. Hope it helps.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
