Hello,

I wanna network my old Win2kPro machine to my new XP machine to transfer old data. Can anyone point me towards an easy tutorial on how to do this?

Thanks.

I take it they are alone on this network, in which case this is the way to do things.

1. Connect the cable(s). Either one cross-over cable between the computers, or a hub plus two straight cables. Make sure the light come on.

2. Set up the IP:s
PC1:
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

PC2:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

3. Give the computers names and put them in the same workgroup.

4. Now share a folder on one of the computers (let's say the source computer).

5. Connect to that folder on the target computer and start copying.

Problems usually arise during 5. Post back if it does. :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
