network tips

Nice find. I was wasting my time with some of those.

Even though the security procedures are not as good a fix as advertised there is still some value in that they keep out the casual malicious hacker.

Remember. Locks are not designed to keep out burglars, nothing can. Locks are intended to make it easier for the burglar to break into your neighbors house.

i dont know much about it
1) i didn't finish reading it :s lol
2) i use wired network and on linux, dont need to worry much about security at the moment

Not sure why the author of that article is calling it the dumbest ways to secure a WLAN. He wouldn't have said that when WLAN was first introduced. Besides, with the advances in technology even the newer WPA wouldn't be as secure as it once were.

Yes I think the man knows what he’s talking about. But the bottom line is that you can’t secure a network, any type of network, it’s not possible. You can make it difficult, near impossible, but you can’t secure any network even an encrypted cable network. If you can access the internet then they can access you it’s just the level of difficulty + time required to circumvent whatever security measures you have in place.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
