What i am trying to do here is have an open share of the root to a drive its self. there are 2 drives i want to share for the network so anyone who is on our wifi or hooks up to the network physicaly can access these without a user name or anything... it was simple in vista and lower but for some reason with windows 7 i do not have permission to access the share. any idea???

i cant seem to let anything share no matter what options i put in

Right click the drive and select "share with" and select what group you want to share with.

You then may have to go into advanced sharing options.

right click - share with - advanced share. that is what the pic is of. only option is advanced sharing. and when i go in there. name it HD. select permissions. EVERYONE. full control. then test on a vista pc and a windows 7 laptop. i dont have permission to access it

i can do it to any folder just fine. but not a drive. anyone know a way to share the drive its self? and no its not C or the system drive.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
