I have just put windows XP Home on a friends computer.
He wanted a small partition and a large partition on the main drive, which I did with no problem.
When I installed XP I put it on the small partition(E) instead of the main partition(C).
When I realised what I had done I reinstalled it to the C partition and in Disk management I formatted the E partition.
When I boot up now I have 2 XP installs to choose from.
I know the Boot ini file can be edited in notepad but I have forgotten how :suprised:
Also how do I find out which entry is on which partition as deleting the wrong entry would mess it up.
Regards Alan.

Right click on My computer from desktop.
Properties/advanced/startup and recovery -> settings.

In the top you will see your start up string, under that is an edit button that opens boot.ini in notepad.

Thanks for that Blue Jack.
All done now.
I just took a guess at which one to delete and chose the right one. :)

Is there a boot.ini for Pro? becuase I am having a similar problem.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
