Need Help:Cant install

I can't install windows XP on my computer. It always freezes at the beginning of installation. I am going to take it back and wait 6-10 months until I have an even newer computer. I have win98 running now and when I startup my pc it gives me a choice to go to xp setup(which doesn't work) or start 98. How do I get rid of the xp install? It is very annoying having to pick 98 every time and not being able to leave it alone.

Edit the boot.ini file. Delete the reference to XP and set the timeout to zero.

If i remember rightly....

You boot into windows 98/me or whatever the os that works is Go START/Settings/control panel

Open system

Click on the advanced tab and then startup& Recovery

Then you can either untick the boxes or delete the boot options manually..

I hope this helps, i had the same problem with Windows 2000pro & XP that is how i got around it.
