My friend's Acer's network issues

Hey again.

Different networking issue today. So my friend has an issue that something is causing his Acer laptop NOT to let anyone access his shared docs. Me and him got as far as finally showing his laptop as part of the network, but not any luck on sharing the docs. We even tried going through the sharing files wizard thing and it still doesn't work. Is it possible some setting has a user restriction thing?

The only thing anyone gets when accessing it is the "Access Denied" error. And no, no folders are showing up.

Any firewalls or "internet security" packages installed?

well we checked and so far, the only firewall that we found was Windows Firewall. I looked through the task bar and I don't see anything else that would be considered internet security unless its hidden in process.

Just to see what happens, try disabling the windows firewall for a few minutes. You will probably be able to access those shared docs right away.

sorry it took so long.

So it was tried. We disabled the firewall, waited... tried restarting the system while the firewall was disabled, and still nothing.

I just want to mention that it never occured to me before but I am starting to think that maybe there is a built-in firewall on the laptop because before his laptop had to be sent in for something, it didn't go through to shared docs reguardless.

Anything else to suggest?
