mustek scanner drivers

Scooby Doo

i've tried installing a win2k mustek driver for my scanner but it's a clever little driver cuz it recognises it aint a win2k operating system. i've seen on this web site there is away round this by editing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/ProductName to read Microsoft Windows 2000 instead of XP. the problem is i can't see the "ProductName" bit.

Any ideas??

Dont hold your breath, my Dad had to by a new scanner with this problem.

However its here
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
as you say.

If not add:

new string value under current version
name it : ProductName
value: Microsoft Windows XP (TE)

try that

Scooby Doo

thanks for that kylie, it worked, that was the only problem i had left to sort out after installing win xp and now my scanner's working again :)

EP, glad to see you come back and tidy up...did want to ask a one day favor, I want to enhance my resume , was hoping you could make me administrator for a day, if so, take me right off since I won't be here to do anything, and don't know the slightest about the board, but it would be nice putting "served administrator osnn", if can do, THANKS

Been running around Quora lately, luv it there!
