MS Word 97 acting weird..

Ever since I upgraded to WinXP, MS Word 97 has been giving me a weird message.

When I open a word document by double clicking on it, Word starts running and opens the file, and then says "<filename> is being used by <my username>. Do you want to make a copy?"

I always click no and continue working. I have no idea what'll happen if I click yes.

However, if Word is already running, and I click File --> Open --> and select my document, I don't get that message when Word opens it.

It's pretty distracting. Is there any way to stop this?

Same happened to me its really annoying

You need to upgrade your version of word with services pack 1 & 2
