MS Opens Source To Catch Pedophiles

Well paedophiles have been around for many Moons and will still be. The stupid thing for these little pathetic waste of dna was that the net arrived, so with this, they would all be chucked together, which made it easier to expose them and show how many of these little s*ts actually existed.

I think M$ should get their monies and build a very large 'vat' of boiling crude oil so that we can kick the slime one-by-one into it. Problem solved.

The fact is whether you want to admit it or not, paedophilia is a mental condition just as depression and Schizophrenia and many others are.

Except this condition usually stems from childhood abuse and neglect. Simply locking them up does nothing, there are always more to take their place.

Instead looking at the root cause of the problem would be more beneficial maybe not in the short term, but the long term is how we have to think.

Effectively treating child abuse from the onset, noticing signs of child abuse, physically, sexually and mentally are all very important. Just labelling them all as monster's is not correct, i believe as do most professionals that once they start down the road of paedophillic tendencies there is little that can be done to cure them, essentially they are lost causes. So is locking them away the correct thing to do, who knows.

But being realistic instead of emotional about it and creating a more accountable environment, where children are not so exposed to the threat is where we need to be.

Treatment at first stages of abuse is vital. Otherwise the abused are very likely to become the abusers later on in life.

Don't believe me, ask yourself if you where bullied in school, then ask yourself, "did you become the bully?"

x-istense, who is wrong?

It's should be up to the ISP's to scan for kid porn on their user's web space, and the ISP's should be the ones getting fined (and the owner of teh site emprisonned) for hosting kid porn.

xtweaker that was discussed years ago with the isp's, but it was acknowledged by all that that would mean all the isps going out of business they simply have too much data going through their systems, also it would mean at the time at least a breach of rights etc.... for all as they would also need to be scanning your grannies mah jong emails as well.

Really the best solution is what they have now online police, i think most will find Canada and the UK are leaders in this field, or at least they are who you hear the busts come from perhaps the fbi helps out behind the scenes.

All they need is to have external auditors that check all of teh hosts once every 2 months. The fine the ISP's would get if anything is found should be more than enough to make the ISP's filter the content of their servers.

It's not that hard to do either, they don't have to manually visit every single site thei are hosting to know what they host, all they need is some automatic agent that scans for picture archives, and marks the sites that have a lot. THEN someone filters out those sites by hand. At best, NEW sites should be monitored more closely at first...

Nothing is impossible. Truth is the internet has been in need of an international cybercrime police that has enough authority to act anywhere for a LONG time. Until this happens, the web is going to remain full of trash and illegal stuff... They can't control it that much.

Sounds like a police state and VERY open to abuse. Would start with kiddie pr0n and move to everything else.

What if i host naked pictures of women who just turned 18, but yet look like they are jail bait?

Amen brother!

I know Im not the only man on the face of this earth that has ever watched a "Barey Legal" pr0n video where at the very beginning they ask: how old are you?

Then what? Letting the FBI monitor civilians just because they THINK you MIGHT be trafficking Kiddie PR0n???

No they need the laws to stay as they are and enforce whats already in place not give more and morte increasing power to people who have no business messing with ordinary citizens on "hunches" or SUPPOSED child Pr0n innuendo.

I don't think they can ever catch the small ones where they have "some" illegal pics of girls that aren't 18 yet... It's like anything else... In the real world, the police is not going to check the pockets of everybody in the street to see if they have a bag of weed, but they will catch the obvious dealer, or bunch of guys smoking a big one in the middle of a public place...

I think it's the same thing with those sites... Law has never been fullproof, and it never will be. Why do some people get away with driving 50km/hour past the limit while some dude who never got a ticket in his life gets fined for driving 10km/hour over the limit? Cause it's just the way it is. They catch the obvious, and if you're lucky enough not to get caught, good for you... They still have to check though.

I think if anything happens related to kid porn, it's gonna be random audits like I said, and it will be up to the ISP's to catch the very obvious ones (As in a site that would be called "Fresh Young Lolitas" and it's so obvious they are all bellow 18, or that the site is targeted at pedophiles.), and that the fine alone being so high will give a kick in the ISP's butt to force them to monitor the content they host better.

What they do most of all is either a) create sites that this people go to thus tracking their movements on the web and then catching them when they go to real kiddie porn sites.

Or B) well b aludes me right now, i totally forgot what i was going to say haha.

Hahaha...

I would think real pedophiles would use something like FreeNet.

xie, the fact that you know about that disturbs me! :(

Who doesn't know about FreeNet? Also it would only make sense as FreeNet is designed for real free speech, be it something as evil as kiddie pr0n or just someone that lives in a country that limits all speech.

Taken from FAQ:
What about child porn, offensive content or terrorism?
While most people wish that child pornography and terrorism did not exist, humanity should not be deprived of their freedom to communicate just because of how a very small number of people might use that freedom.

Freenet is eventually gonna go down... They will not keep such a chaotic environment opened no mater what "free speech" means. Free speech is fine as long as you don't break the law. Kid porn and Terrosism is obviously not legal, so if that freenet thing is filled with that kind of stuff, I don't expect it to stay alive much longer.
