hi, yesterday i bought one of those mice (usb), it works fine but it makes xp freeze when shutting down or going to stand by...
i've tried reinstalling xp but it didn't solve the problem.

Any ideas why this could occur, and how to solve this?

ps: i looked for something like "disable quick shutdown" in win me, but couldn't find??

thanks for help...

If it came with a ps/2 adapter, plug that in. That's the only solution I've seen... and i've seen a lot of folks with that mouse having problems.

Also check your USB hubs. I had a nasty problem where
XP would hang on shutdown or restart, and I finally found out
that one of my three USB ports was somehow dedicated to,
and set up as, a printer port. After I plugged my printer into
that USB port, and my mouse and Smartmedia reader into the
remaining two, my problems disappeared. If I try to plug my
mouse, or SmartMedia reader into the port that the printer is
using, my system will hang on shutdown or reboot.

I always thought that all of the USB ports were universal, but
my Device Manager says otherwise.

MS Mouse

Talking of mice! I've just spent £60 on a Ms Optical Wireless mouse and it's the biggest waste of money I've spent in a while.

Talk about delays in response after clicking. My advice to people is to avoid this like the plague.

I've tried all sorts to sort this out but to no avail. Try and play Links 2001 with it and watch your scores rise dramatically or play Quake 3 and get fragged for your troubles.

If anybody has had similar problems or may know of a fix, I'd be pleased to know.

Time to get off my high horse.

Click ........Delay........oh finally
