MS Backup not backing up changed data?

At work we have to use MS backup to backup users data on external drives. So, I have been assigned to figure out why sometimes on Windows 2000 / Windows XP with all of the SP's and updates changed files do not get backed up on a normal full backup.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

What I did was is took a folder with my name, added a Word document and put my intials in it. I ran a schedualed auto full normal backup. It backed the file up fine. So, I removed the folder from my desktop, ran restore and it restored it just fine.

So, I made another change to the file, I added another line with the date, saved, ran the auto backup again. Went fine, so I thought. I removed the folder from my local machine, ran the backup and the file was restored, but with only the original first line I added....?

Does anyone have any ideas? I have searched and am still searching. Hopefully someone else has been able to fix this issue.

Problem is that not many people would use MS Backup. Your problem could be an unresolved bug. I'm sure your business could afford a proper imaging soluition such as Ghost or Driveimage or even mirrorred arrays rather that Microsoft's half-witted accessory. I tried MS Backup when I first got Windows and it buggered my settings on restore. Since then I've never gone back. :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
