MP3 player for V3i poor quality?

I just got the motorola headphones for my V3i and downloaded a few songs to it. After listening the sound quality is absolutely terrible.. Is this because I am using the motorola headphones or will different headphones make any difference at all?

Also, it takes wayyy too long to download a song to the phone..
