[Movie Review] Casino Royale

Hahaha
I read the spoiler, seems like something i wouldnt like in bond.

Vanquished, here's a suggestion, watch the movie, or not. Don't keep crapping on a thread about a movie you haven't watched and show no inclination of watching.

I am tempted to delete all your posts so far because, frankly, they won't be missed.

Thanks.

Well i am still deciding if i want to see the movie.
Because when push comes to shove. I believe that 1 person can not make a difference in voting, profit, etc.
Thus If there is nothing left to see, and i want to see a movie.
i might see this one.
By being active in the thread, and reading views of the movie, i gather information about the movie that will decide me seeing it or not.
So far, i have to say i dont think i would be pleased is all.

as far as I can tell, no matter how bad, there are a few franchise movies that men are obligated to see

we are obligated to watch all batman, superman, rocky, star trek, star wars, james bond movies.

there might be others, but those are obligitory

vanquished, you're going

sorry

I told you he would rock at bond

[after just being thru a life threatening event]
Bond: Give me a vodka martini
Bartender: Would you like it shaken or stirred?
Bond: Does it look like I give a damn?

Anyway, its getting some great reviewed. It is less hollywood I am afraid than previous ones, its a much more gritty english like movie - tho very little of the film would appear to be in England :D

I loved that line...but this one was also great:

[after another crazy life threatening event, he comes back at the poker table]

Le Chiffre: [look of utter surprise on his face]
Bond: Sorry, that last hand almost killed me.

Can't remember word for word, but for those who have already watched the movie here's one that got the cinema-goers laughing.

Bond (to Le Chiffre in torture chamber): you'll die scratching my balls.

Yeah he was awesome in that scene :)

I know, I know :(
I was gonna see it today at 3:00 pm but i hava plans at 4:30 and its a long movie right ??

I guess ill see it,
For John Cleese though, not the new fake Bond. :)

ok, saw this

craig is a fine actor, and makes a good bond, but really, they have to change some of the writing

you can't have beutifull women turning their head over someone this ugly

the girl I was with and the female faces around me were laughing and doing gag me faces when that scene happened

sorry 'bout that, but he can be bond, he just can't be drop dead gorgous bond.

so if they can figure out they need to take those scenes out they can continue to use him

I liked this episode and didn't even realize it wasa almost 2 1/2 hours ong

I also liked the comming attractions to rocky...as always, will have to see that one even though I don't care for the balboa franchise one bit

Perris, Daniel Craig may not be the best looking bond ever, in the classical sense, but women are attracted to a lot of things. His physique and the way he carried himself == attractive in the eyes of the majority of women.

Women will easily do a double-take when they see a guy who takes care of himself and who dresses relatively well, it's a given.

he wasn't dressed relatively well he was dressed realtively the same

I grant the following; it is a movie after all, and when we go to a movie we enter a contract to willingly suspend intellectual disbelief

however even given that contract, you can't cast John DeSantis as a midget in a movie, it would be rediculous casting.

sazar, I've been in the room with heads of state like clinton, I've been in the room with world class athletes like pele, jeeter, mccnroe, marino, holyfield and a host of others, (all had uncanny style by the way)

I've been with women attracted to power, women attracted to style

a man who looked like craig, unless famous, would not get any play what so ever from these
women if they didn't know him...perhaps once they knew him or something about him, had seen him in action or knew someone who had, but certainly not before that

if we were talking about a situation or scene where he were not among the type of indibiduals he was among at this club then you might have a point, however he was in a venue surrounded by other men equally or more powerful, equal or more style, certainly more wealth

as far as his build, sorry, that's not a great looking physique for a man in shape and only compares against men who aren't in shape, it"s remarkably strange and the collective opinion among the women with us was as follows;

this guy is funny looking, weird triangular head, big forward ears, strange body, and the writers need to take out the "gorgeous bond" shtick and go with the "incredibly adept", "street smart" bond..."intelligent" bond, those he pulls off very nicely.

"weird looking" bond he could pull off too but I don't thnk they want to go there

this guy turning a womens head in that venue was just as rediculous as louis depalma laying up a dunk shot against michael jordon...good in a commedy, rediculous in an action film

as I pointed out, even the women surrpoundingus made ?gag me? faces and were laughing at the scene

however, as I said at the beginning of this piece, we are supposed to willingly suspend our disbelief and I thought his skills easily justified the choice for him in this part

they just need to realize he isn't pierce, he isn't Connery, he isn't Dalton (my least favorite), and he isn't Moore, he will not turn a women's head and they need to rethink that portion of the bond mystique for this next few chapters in this franchise so long as craig is their bond of choice

bronson is one of my favorite contemporary actors

craig does a great job though vanquished, it's a differant, "street tough" type of bond...you should see it

I will so i can be more active in this discussion, im a busy man, 2 hours isnt easy for me to find.
I also believe Brosnan is a great actor, one of my favorites, when i was younger he was my favorite and might still be, im a fan of Kiefer Sutherland as well, simply because his movies always rock :)
Is anyone going to see Brosnan in the Topkapi Affair?
I mean especially with all the hardship he has faced with deaths of his wife and friend to cancer, etc. Due to his wife's death Timothy Dalton took the role of Bond, unfortunately for Dalton, people weren't into it.
Then Brosnan came with Goldeneye, and people loved him.

Hahaha
What did they have instead?

Go watch the movie. Your posts in this thread are starting to piss me off, since they don't contain a review, or anything else meaninful to the discussion at hand.

Well sure they do.
I was talking about Bond, and Pierce Brosnan, a very relevant topic :).

- comment below-

He is supposed to be attractive to women because of his demeanor, confidence and his tongue (speech). He is supposed to be seductive, not a pretty boy, as an agent he is not supposed to stick out like a sore thumb unless necessary. Some of the other bonds were starting to become run-of-the-mill types.

None of my friends nor the women who sat around us seemed to have an issue with Craig. And you are also apparently taking the scene out of context. Look at the other people who were in that hotel/bar.

I suggest you shoot over a lengthy letter to the studio claiming he looks like arse and tell them not to do the pretty boy thing. I am sure considering the battering Craig takes throughout the movie that he was not being portrayed as a pretty boy.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
