Mouse wire damaged?

I already have an mx500, but it's not the same great feel as the Boomslang.

I could try that, when I buy a soldering kit.

Or I could get a Logitech Dual Optical. Two 800dpi = 1600dpi. Not as good as 2000 though...

considering the maximum fps off a mouse is 125 fps from usb, i dont see how a mouse rated at 2000+ fps can do any diffrent....

find out what part of the cord is damaged. you could probably cut off the end and re-solder it back on (losing an inch or two of cordage).

or maybe the broken contact is in the plug on the circuit board of the mouse.

Not a good idea.DOnt go messing around with stuff like that. You could blow your USB port or mouse port.

2000 dpi is "dots per inch", not fps. Big difference.

I think you'd definitely be better off getting a different mouse.
As its a ballmouse, it'll be using hardly any power from the USB port - therefore I'm pretty sure it wont "blow" anything up.

I would definitely try changing the wire before anything else though - if it doesnt work, at least you cant say you didnt try :)

thats my theory anyway lol

precisely. :)

Once I find an appropriate USB wire, I'll try that. I'll also need a soldering kit, and learn how to solder stuff together.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
